Day 1 Humantay Lake Hke - Full Day
The Humantay Lake Full-Day hike begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco . From there, enjoy a scenic two-hour drive through picturesque Andean villages and mountain landscapes on the way to Mollepata. where we will have a short stop for breakfast.
After breakfast, travel for approximately one more hour by vehicle to Soraypampa (3,9000 m / 12,795 ft ), the starting point of the hike to Humantay Lake. Before setting off, your guide will provide a safety briefing, explain the route, and allow time to use the restrooms and prepare your hiking gear.
The trail begins with a gentle incline before becoming steeper as you gain elevation. Your experienced guide will set a comfortable pace, making short stops along the way to rest, enjoy the scenery, and learn about the surrounding mountains and local culture.
After approximately two hours of hiking, you will reach the spectacular Humantay Lake, located at 4,200 meters (13,779 feet) above sea level. Surrounded by the towering glaciers of the Salkantay Mountain Range, the lake’s brilliant turquoise waters create one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Peru. Take time to relax, capture unforgettable photos, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this remarkable natural wonder.
After exploring the lake, begin the two-hour descent back to Soraypampa. Although easier than the ascent, the trail is rocky in some sections, making comfortable hiking shoes and trekking poles highly recommended.
Once back at Soraypampa, board the transport for the return journey to Mollepata, where a delicious lunch awaits at a local restaurant.
Relax during the scenic drive back to the city of Cusco , arriving at your hotel around 6:00 p.m.
