Itinerary

Day 1 Arequipa - Yanahura - Monastery of Santa Catalina

At the scheduled time we will pick you up from your hotel in the city of Arequipa. We will start our journey with a visit to Carmen Alto Viewpoint, a beautiful spot overlooking the Chili River Valley and the surrounding countryside, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the majestic Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu volcanoes.

We will then continue to the Yanahuara Viewpoint, one of the most iconic places in Arequipa, famous for its elegant arches carved from white volcanic stone and its panoramic views of Misti Volcano. We will also admire the picturesque Yanahuara Square and its traditional colonial church.

Our tour continues to the magnificent Plaza de Armas, the heart of Arequipa’s historic center. Here, we will admire its elegant colonial arcades, beautiful gardens, fountain, and the impressive Arequipa Cathedral, one of the city’s most important architectural landmarks.

We will then continue with a panoramic visit to the Church of the Society of Jesus, admiring its beautifully carved sillar façade from the exterior. This remarkable building is considered one of the finest examples of Mestizo Baroque architecture in Arequipa, showcasing the artistic and cultural fusion that developed during the colonial period.

Finally, we will visit the impressive Monastery of Santa Catalina, our final and most extensive stop of the tour. Founded in 1579, this remarkable religious complex is known as a “city within a city.” We will explore its colorful streets, cloisters, courtyards, chapels, and historic rooms while learning about the religious traditions and daily life of the women who lived within its walls for centuries. Its vibrant architecture and unique atmosphere make Santa Catalina one of the most fascinating attractions in Arequipa.  After this  visit, we will return to your hotel.
