Itinerary
Day 1 Patacancha Community Experience – 1 Day
This experience begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel. We travel toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas through the Chinchero route, enjoying breathtaking Andean landscapes along the way. We make a short stop in Ollantaytambo to take photos and stretch our legs before continuing to the remote mountain community of Patacancha.
Upon arrival, you will receive a warm welcome from the local community with traditional music, dances, and colorful Andean clothing. We then visit a local alpaca farm, taking a short walk of approximately 20 minutes to reach the family’s alpaca barn. Here, you will participate in the ancestral Tinka Ceremony, a traditional ritual where Andean families honor Pachamama and bless their alpacas with flowers, ribbons, and coca leaves, requesting fertility and protection for their animals.
After the ceremony, we return to the community to enjoy a traditional Andean lunch featuring Pachamanca, an ancient cooking method where meat, native potatoes, fava beans, corn, and Andean herbs are cooked underground using heated stones.
In the afternoon, you will participate in authentic cultural activities with local families. Choose from a Traditional Weaving Workshop, where you will learn about alpaca wool, natural dyes, and ancestral weaving techniques; a Traditional Medicine Experience, where you will discover the importance of Andean medicinal plants and their role in daily life; or a Community Farming Experience, where you can take part in seasonal activities such as planting or harvesting using traditional tools and methods.
After this unforgettable cultural experience, we return to your hotel in the Sacred Valley or Cusco, completing a unique journey into the heart of Andean traditions.
