Itinerary

Day 1 Pallay Punchu Mountain Hike - Full Day

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at around 4:00 a.m. and begin our journey south through the scenic Andean valleys. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of traditional villages, farmland, and snow-capped peaks as the sun slowly rises over the mountains of the Peruvian Andes.

After approximately 2 hours of driving, we will arrive in the town of Cusipata, where we will stop for breakfast. Your guide will explain the day’s itinerary, trail conditions, and the best way to hike at high altitude. Although the hike is not very long, the viewpoint is located at a high elevation, so we’ll focus on taking small steps, breathing steadily, and maintaining a comfortable pace.

After breakfast, we will continue driving for about 1.5 hours to the trailhead of Pallay Punchu Mountain, located near the beautiful Langui Lagoon, one of the most impressive lakes in southern Peru.

From here, we will begin the Pallay Punchu hike, following a trail of approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) with a gradual ascent that takes about 1.5 hours. As we hike through the high Andes, you will be surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery, herds of llamas and alpacas, and the peaceful sounds of nature. The landscape changes dramatically with the elevation, revealing colorful rock formations shaped by centuries of wind and rain.

Upon reaching the summit, your guide will share fascinating insights into the geological formation of Pallay Punchu, its cultural significance, and its deep connection to the local Quechua communities. Take time to breathe in the fresh mountain air, capture some memorable photos, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this remote natural paradise.

After exploring the summit, we will begin our descent back to Layo. Once we reach our transportation, we will drive back to Cusipata, where a delicious buffet lunch with variety of local dishes will be waiting for us.

Finally, we will begin our return journey to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:30 p.m., depending on traffic and road conditions. We will drop you off at your hotel or at a nearby central location if your street is not accessible by vehicle.
