Itinerary

Day 1 Rainbow Mountain Trek – Full Day

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and head toward the southern valley of Cusco, traveling to the village of Cusipata. After approximately a two-hour drive, we will stop at a local restaurant for breakfast. Then, we will continue our journey for another hour until we reach the trailhead at Llaqto village (4,630 m / 15,190 ft), where we will begin our uphill hike through dramatic Andean landscapes.

From there, we will start our hike to Rainbow Mountain. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes, snow-capped peaks, colorful valleys, and traditional llamas and alpacas grazing in their natural environment. The ascent usually takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace, weather conditions, and altitude adaptation.

After reaching the summit, you will arrive at the iconic Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain (5,100 m / 16,732 ft). Here, you will have time to admire the incredible mineral colors of the mountain, take memorable photos, and enjoy spectacular views of Apu Ausangate, the sacred glacier peak of the Andes (6,384 m / 20,945 ft). We will spend approximately 30 minutes or more at the viewpoint to fully appreciate this unique landscape.

Then, we will begin our descent, a downhill hike of approximately 1.5 hours back to the starting point of the trek. After the hike, we will board our transportation to Cusipata, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant.

Finally, we will return to Cusco, arriving at your hotel at approximately 4:30 p.m., ending an unforgettable adventure to one of Peru’s most impressive natural wonders.
