Itinerary
Day 1 Cusco – Ollantaytambo Train Station -Aguas Calientes
At 8:00 in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then, in our private transport, we will embark on a three-hour drive through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo. Here, you will board the train to Aguas Calientes.
The train journey offers breathtaking views of the Urubamba River winding through remote Andean villages and farmlands.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes (2,040 m/ 6,692 ft ), we will accommodate you in a comfortable hotel. After checking in, you will have time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. You can spend the afternoon relaxing in the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes, walk to the Machu Picchu museum, visit the butterfly station or simply exploring this charming town.
Later in the evening, our representative will meet you in your hotel lobby to brief you on the following day’s itinerary.
Day 2 Machupicchu Tour - Cusco
Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel and board the first buses up to Machu Picchu (2,430 m / 7,972 ft.). This means we will get to enjoy the complex with fewer crowds. Here you will have a guided tour of all the most important sites of the Machu Picchu Citadel: houses, temples, squares, and terraces, among others. It takes about two hours and half, followed by free time to explore the citadel on your own.
Our first choice is Circuit 2 whenever it is available, as it provides one of the most complete guided experiences at Machu Picchu. If Circuit 2 is sold out for your selected date and time, we will secure the best available alternative, usually Circuit 1 or Circuit 3.
After your visit, you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you will have time for lunch on your own. Then, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, our transport will take you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 8:00 pm. Depending on train schedule.
Optional: You can hike Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain, which takes about 2 hours round trip, but it may vary depending on your pace and fitness level. The tickets need to be purchased well in advance.
