Itinerary
Day 1 Cusco – Pisac - Urubamba - Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:30 am, we then drive towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We stop first at the Mirador of Taray to enjoy amazing views of the Urubamba valley and its traditional farming villages. Next, we will head to the Pisac archaeological site, where we will visit the most important places, like the agricultural terraces, cemetery on steep slopes, temples, and aqueducts. Afterwards, we will drive back to the colorful market of Pisac, where local women sell their handmade products. Here you will have time to walk around and do some shopping.
Our next stop is Urubamba town, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, we will continue our journey to Ollantaytambo ( 2,792 m / 9,160 ft), a living Inca town that preserves its ancient Inca urban design and water channels that still flow today. Here we will visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo with its impressive sun temple at the top of the formidable terraces.
Later, we will go to the train station, where you will board the train to Aguas Calientes town ( 2,040 m /6,693 ft). Upon your arrival to Aguas Calientes, a representative will await you to transfer you to your hotel.
Day 2 Machupicchu Tour - Aguas Calientes - Cusco
Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel and board the first buses up to Machu Picchu (2,430 m / 7,972 ft.). This means we will get to enjoy the complex with fewer crowds. Here you will have a guided tour of all the most important sites of the Machu Picchu Citadel. These include the House of the Guardian, the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Plaza and other interesting sites, which takes about two hours and half, followed by free time to explore the citadel on your own.
After your visit, you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy your lunch in one of the many restaurants. Then, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon your arrival at the train station, we will be there to pick you up and transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 8:00 pm.
Optional: You can climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu, which takes about 2 hours round trip, but it may vary depending on your pace and fitness level. The tickets need to be purchased well in advance.
