Day 1 Lima – Palomino Islands – Lima
Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Lima at approximately 9:00 a.m. Your private driver will take you comfortably to the port of Callao, where you will meet your guide and board the boat for an exciting journey along Peru’s Pacific coastline.
Once aboard, we will set sail toward the fascinating Callao Islands, enjoying stunning views of the Pacific Ocean along the way. We will cruise near San Lorenzo Island, a place of great historical significance whose past dates back to pre-Columbian times and is closely linked to the region’s maritime heritage.
As we navigate these waters, you will have the opportunity to observe local fishing vessels and impressive colonies of guano-producing seabirds. Your guide will share fascinating insights into the area’s history, wildlife, and marine ecosystem. Keep an eye out for Humboldt penguins and other coastal birds, and admire the historic lighthouse perched atop the island.
We will then continue toward our main destination: the Palomino Islands, a group of rocky islands renowned for their rich marine biodiversity and large colonies of South American sea lions.
Upon reaching the islands, you will enjoy one of the highlights of the tour: the opportunity to swim alongside sea lions in their natural habitat. You will have approximately 15 minutes in the water to experience this unforgettable wildlife encounter as these curious animals swim and play nearby.
Throughout the experience, your guide will share information about the Palomino Islands and the importance of protecting this unique marine ecosystem.
After this memorable encounter with Peru’s marine wildlife, we will begin our return journey to the port of Callao. The boat ride back takes approximately one hour, allowing you to enjoy the coastal scenery and the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean along the way.
Upon arrival at the port, your private driver will be waiting to transfer you comfortably back to your hotel or accommodation in Lima. The tour ends at approximately 2:00 pm.
