The day begins early in the city of Cusco. After the transfer from your hotel to the tourist bus station, you will check in, board the bus, and begin your journey south toward Puno.

As we leave Cusco behind, the scenery gradually changes. Along the way, you will see agricultural fields, small Andean communities, traditional villages, and impressive mountain landscapes.

08:30 – 09:30 a.m. | Andahuaylillas – The “Sistine Chapel of America”

Our first stop is Andahuaylillas, where we visit the historic Church of Saint Peter of Andahuaylillas, famously known as the “Sistine Chapel of America.”

Inside, you will admire impressive wall paintings, Baroque decoration, gold-leaf details, and works associated with the Cusco School of Art. This visit offers a fascinating insight into colonial religious art and the cultural heritage of the Andes.

10:30 – 11:30 a.m. | Raqchi Archaeological Complex

We continue our journey to Raqchi, one of the most important archaeological sites along the route.

Here, we explore the impressive Temple of Wiracocha, together with its large stone-and-adobe structures and ancient colcas, or storage facilities, dating from the Inca period.

The visit provides an opportunity to learn about the religious, administrative, and productive importance of Raqchi during the Inca Empire.

11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Buffet Lunch in Sicuani

After visiting Raqchi, we stop for a buffet lunch, featuring a selection of Peruvian dishes and traditional products from the Andean region.

This is also a perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy the local cuisine, and recharge before continuing toward the higher elevations of the Andes.

01:10 – 01:20 p.m. | La Raya Pass

We continue toward La Raya Pass, traditionally considered the geographical boundary between the regions of Cusco and Puno.

At approximately 4,335meters (14,222 feet) above sea level, this is the highest point of the Route of the Sun. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and vast highland landscapes, as well as take memorable photographs.

02:30 – 03:15 p.m. | Pucará – Lithic Museum

Our next stop is Pucará, an area closely associated with an important pre-Hispanic culture of the Peruvian highlands.
