This short trek  starting at Chachabamba (km 104) on the railroad and  allow you to enjoy part of the inca trail and visit the impressive archaeological site of Wiñayhuyana, continuing through the famous Inti Punku (the Sun Gate) with beautiful views of the citadel  and include overnight in a hotel in Aguas Calientes .The second day early guided visit of world-famous Inca citadel of Machupicchu.

Overview

Visitors from all over the world come to Peru to take part in the great adventure of the Inca Trail. This trek includes different ecological areas from high deserts to Andean tropical rain-forest.Following this ancient Inca Trail, along the trek we will past archaeological sites and finally arriving to the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

Day 1 Day 1 Cusco – Ollantaytambo – km 104 - Wiñayhuayna- Aguas Calientes

Early morning after your breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco or Sacred Valley, we will drive to Ollantaytambo train station to board the trailhead of the Short Inca Trail at Chachabamba (known as km 104). The train ride will last about an hour and 30 minutes.

After crossing the checkpoint, we will visit the first Inca Site, Chachabamba (2,200 m /7,218 ft), Then We will start hiking uphill for about 3 hours to the impressive Inca site of Winaywayna (2,720 m / 8,923 ft). Along the way, we will pass through microclimates, including cloud forest and a beautiful waterfall. This amazing site is covered by agricultural terraces and built into a steep hillside overlooking the Urubamba River. There is a viewpoint where we will admire the incredible panoramic views and take pictures of the complete Inca ruins. Then we will take a short break to enjoy the box lunch. After lunch, we will continue hiking another two hours to Intipunku, the Sun gate (2,730 m/ 7,874 ft), which is a mostly flat hike, except for a set of steep stairs just before we reach the sun gate. Once there we will experience our first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu Citadel So we will have some time to rest and take amazing photos. After our first sighting of Machu Picchu, we will descend for about one hour, walking slowly in the footsteps of the Inca Trail. We will enter Machu Picchu (through the upper section of Inca City (circuit 1). This circuit will lead us to the guardian’s house, the viewing platforms above the site, where we will take the Machu Picchu postcard photos, arriving at the site for the less-crowded late afternoon. After the photographic session, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes town. As we arrive in Aguas Calientes (2,040 m /6,693 ft), we will check you in at your hotel, and then we will have dinner at one of the restaurants in town. Included: Box lunch, Dinner and Hotel

Day 2 Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu Tour – Ollantaytambo - Cusco

Today we will explore the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu (2,430 m / 7,972 ft.) before it gets crowded, after an early breakfast at the hotel, we will take one of the first buses to the entrance of Machu Picchu . Then you will start your guided tour of the citadel, with a knowledgeable local guide, which takes about two hours. You will learn about the mysterious architecture, the history, astronomy, and spiritual traditions of the Inca civilization. You will visit all the most important locations of the Machu Picchu Citadel along circuit 2. Including the Sacred Plaza, Temple of the Sun, the temple of the three windows and other interesting sites. After the guided tour, you will have a bit of free time to explore on your own. When you are ready, you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included), and then you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon your arrival at the train station, our transport will be there to pick you up and transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 8:00 pm.
