This 3-day tour combines stunning landscapes, ancient Inca ruins, impressive mountain views, and walking through the Andean rainforest.You will visit the most highlights of the Sacred valley, then spend a night in the charming village of Ollantaytambo. The next day, you will hike the scenic short Inca Trail, passing the astounding Wiñay Wayna and then you will take a walk up to the Sun Gate to get a spectacular view over the breathtaking Machu Picchu.  Ending your adventure by exploring the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

Day 1: Sacred Valley tour & Overnight in Ollantaytambo

We will pick you up around 8:00 am from your hotel, then we will head towards the small town of Chinchero (3,762 m/12,343 ft). We will drive 45 minutes to get there. Along the way, we will have a beautiful ride through Andean scenery, passing farming fields and snow -capped mountains. Upon arrival, we will visit a weaving demonstration center made by native local woman. They use a variety of natural fibers, including alpaca, llama, and sheep wool. They use techniques, including spinning, dyeing, and weaving, to create designs that reflect the culture and history of the region. Then we will continue driving to Moray (3,450 m/11,318 ft), the circular terraces used by the Incas for agricultural experiments. You have time to explore and take photos. After exploring Moray, we will drive 30 minutes to Maras Salt mines (3,200 m/10,498 ft). Here we will see the amazing salt mines, with over 3,000 salt ponds, carved into the mountainside. The Salineras have been in use since pre-Inca times, and the traditional methods of salt production are still used today. Afterward, we will head to the town of Urubamba to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Our day will end in the Living Inca town of Ollantaytambo Town (2,792 m /9,160 ft), visiting the fortress of Ollantaytambo. You will spend the night in a hotel at this charming town. Day 2: Ollantaytambo – Km104 – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes

Early morning after your breakfast, you will have a short walk to the train station to board a train from Ollantaytambo to the trailhead of the Short Inca Trail at Chachabamba (known as km 104). Where the checkpoint is located. After crossing the checkpoint, we will visit the first Inca Site, Chachabamba (2,200 m /7,218 ft), Then We will start hiking uphill for about 3 hours to the impressive Inca site of Winaywayna (2,720 m / 8,923 ft). Along the way, we will pass through microclimates, including cloud forest and a beautiful waterfall. This amazing site is covered by agricultural terraces and built into a steep hillside overlooking the Urubamba River. There is a viewpoint where we will admire the incredible panoramic views and take pictures of the complete Inca ruins. Then we will take a short break to enjoy the box lunch. After lunch, we will continue hiking another two hours to Intipunku, the Sun gate (2,730 m/ 7,874 ft), which is a mostly flat hike, except for a set of steep stairs just before we reach The sun gate. Once there we will experience our first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu Citadel So we will have some time to rest and take amazing photos. After our first sighting of Machu Picchu, we will descend for about one hour, walking slowly in the footsteps of the Inca Trail. We will enter Machu Picchu (through the upper section of Inca City (circuit 1). This circuit will lead us to the guardian’s house, the viewing platforms above the site, where we will take the Machu Picchu postcard photos, arriving at the site for the less-crowded late afternoon. After the photographic session, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes town. As we arrive in Aguas Calientes (2,040 m /6,693 ft), we will check you in at your hotel, and then we will have dinner at one of the restaurants in town. Included: Box lunch, Dinner and Hotel

Day 3: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo - Cusco

oday we will explore the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu (2,430 m / 7,972 ft.) before it gets crowded, after an early breakfast at the hotel, we will take one of the first buses to the entrance of Machu Picchu . Then you will start your guided tour of the citadel, with a knowledgeable local guide, which takes about two hours. You will learn about the mysterious architecture, the history, astronomy, and spiritual traditions of the Inca civilization. You will visit all the most important locations of the Machu Picchu Citadel along circuit 2. Including the Sacred Plaza, Temple of the Sun, the temple of the three windows and other interesting sites. After the guided tour, you will have a bit of free time to explore on your own. When you are ready, you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included), and then you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon your arrival at the train station, our transport will be there to pick you up and transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 8:00 pm.
